In Florida, automobile and motorcycle accidents are one of the most common types of personal injury cases that occur, but they can also be one of the most complicated from a legal standpoint. Both auto and motorcycle accident cases can range from being a simple property damage case, to a very complex product liability case, and with severe injuries.  You may need the assistance of an attorney and you should start gathering information regarding the accident.


1) First you should make sure that everyone is okay.  If someone needs medical attention call the proper authorities, 911, the police, ect., and  notify them of any medical emergencies.

2)  Then you should obtain the other driver's name, address, phone number, birthday, insurance provider, insurance policy number.  Also, obtain the witnesses name, address and telephone number, if any. 

3)  Then write down any statements made by the other parties that you remember.

4)  Also, contact your insurance company, report the accident and injuries and open the claim process.

Keep track of the contact you made with the other party, their insurance company and your insurance company and make copies of all correspondence that you have with the other parties or insurance companies.

It is very important that you take pictures of the car, the area where the accident happened and any damage or injury, and close up of your injuries initially and throughout the healing process.

You must also obtain a copy of the accident report.  If you do not agree with what is one the report call the police officer and ask him to change the report.  If he is not willing to change the report ask him to include your description of what happen on the report.
